How We’re Preparing Our Clinic for Regulation Changes (And How You Can Too)
Sep 18, 2025
Regulation in aesthetics isn’t a question of if. It’s a question of when.
As a training academy and a clinic, we see both sides. We train practitioners every month who want to future-proof their careers, and we also run clinics that need to be ready for whatever comes.
That means we’re not waiting around for the government to make an announcement. We’re already preparing. And in this blog, we’re sharing exactly what we’re doing inside our clinic to make sure we stay compliant, credible, and confident when the new rules land.
1. Auditing Every Qualification
The first thing we did was create a full list of every therapist on our team, along with the treatments they offer and the qualifications they hold.
We asked ourselves three questions for each:
-
Is this qualification Ofqual-regulated or CPD-only?
-
Does it meet current insurance requirements?
-
Would it still hold up if licensing standards changed tomorrow?
That simple audit showed us exactly where the gaps were — and gave us a clear plan for bridging them.
2. Reviewing Insurance Cover Line by Line
Insurance companies are tightening up already, and the last thing you want is to find out too late that you’re not covered.
We pulled out our policy and checked:
-
Are all the treatments on our menu covered?
-
Are all therapists individually named?
-
Do their qualifications meet the latest criteria?
It wasn’t the most exciting job, but it gave us peace of mind and flagged areas we needed to update before it became a problem.
3. Talking to Clients About Standards
Clients are starting to ask more questions about qualifications, and we see that as a good thing. It gives us a chance to highlight that our staff are trained to Ofqual Level 4 and above, and that we are committed to meeting the new standards.
By being transparent and proactive, we’re building trust before the regulations even arrive.
4. Prioritising Advanced Training
In our clinic, the highest-risk treatments for regulation are the advanced ones: laser, IPL, microneedling, chemical peels.
That’s why we’re prioritising Level 4 and Level 5 training for our team now. Not when the government makes its final announcement, but now.
By the time new standards are enforced, our team will already be compliant — while others are still scrambling.
5. Setting a Training Timeline
Regulated qualifications take time. We know it’s no good waiting until licensing is enforced, because by then it will be too late.
So we’ve built a timeline: who is training now, who starts next, and what the deadlines are. That way, every member of our team will be regulation-ready well before we need to be.
Final Word
At You, we’re not leaving anything to chance. We’re taking action now so our team and our clinic are ready, no matter what happens with regulation.
And you can do the same. Start by auditing your team, reviewing your insurance, and setting a clear training plan. The salons who prepare early will be the ones clients trust, and the ones still trading smoothly when the rules change.
